New Products

Red Barn has been busy! I’m not sure what exactly came over us, but we have been trying all sorts of new products. Corned Beef, dry rub Pork Chops, Chicken Sausage (we’ve made a couple of flavors and are on target to make more!), Reuben-flavored Sausage (delicious with sauerkraut), Loaded Liberty Sausage (delicious on pizza), Oktoberfest Sausage (delicious with spicy mustard) Lamb...the list goes on. This time of year tends to get a bit monotonous for many of us. Winter is SO long, there is SO much snow, and it feels kind of like we’re stuck in limbo waiting for spring. That’s why we decided to get creative. I’m not saying that we can change winter entirely for you, but we can provide you with some fun and tasty meats. Cooking has always been a fun hobby for me, but especially when the weather is a little too blustery for my liking.

I’m not sure how many of you celebrate St Patrick's Day or even care about it, but that’s been what we’ve been planning for. I know I’ve mentioned Corned Beef a few times, but there really isn’t much of a need for a recipe for it since it’s so flavorful already. Just put it in a crock pot on low with Guinness, light beer, or water for about 8 hours and you’ll have yourself a fork tender, mouthwatering meal. Add in carrots, cabbage, and potatoes in the last 3 hours if you’re wanting a traditional Irish feel. You can also cook it covered low and slow in the oven and slice it for sandwiches or whatever else you may want to serve it with.

If you haven’t checked out the past few blog posts, there are some good recipes on there. Variety is good, and that is what we strive for with our recipes. We even have lamb in stock if you’re into that. From what I have gathered, lamb goes very well in stews, as a roast, and in shepherd's pie. I can’t say I have much experience with it as it’s a bit difficult to get most of the time, but we have it now.

Additionally, we have hams in stock. With Easter just around the corner, you may want to place your orders soon than later.

So many options, so much fun!
