BBQ Beef Ribs

The Super Bowl is this Sunday. Whether you follow football or not, it's a great excuse to make delicious food. I tried to come up with a relatively easy rib recipe that would appeal to both kids and adults. Yes, they are messy. Yes, they are delicious. Finger licking good, just as they should be. Enjoy!

BBQ Beef Ribs

  • 4 pounds Red Barn Meats Beef Short Ribs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine ketchup, liquid smoke, brown sugar, minced onion, garlic, and bbq sauce in a pan over medium heat; cook until thick and bubbly, stirring occasionally.

Rub ribs all over with salt and pepper. Place in a 13×9″ pan. Pour about a cup of sauce over the ribs and turn to thoroughly coat. Save the remaining sauce to spoon over the cooked ribs. Cover the pan with foil, place in oven, and roast for 2 1/2 hours.

Remove the foil and turn short ribs over. Add more sauce if needed. Roast for another 30-60 minutes, or until ribs are very tender. Baste with sauce as needed. Take ribs out of pan and place on serving platter. Use the rest of the sauce to coat the ribs.
